2021 Reading Goals
I wrote a bit about my personal goals for 2021. I felt that those small lifestyle tweaks may mean a lot in this coming year which already has been filled with stress and upheaval. Unlike my general lifestyle, I feel a bit more prepared for this reading year. I have a few reading goals for 2021 that I would really like to accomplish.
Modern Mrs. Darcy Reading Challenge. This year’s Mrs. Darcy Reading Challenge was a choose your own adventure style. So after I isolated really what I want to accomplish with my reading this year, I picked 12 prompts. My hope is that each month at lease one of my reads accomplishes a prompt.
I want to read 12 non-fiction books. Nonfiction is just not really my thing, but I do love learning. So my goal is to read at least one non-fiction book per month. To follow along with my non-fiction reading, feel free to visit my StoryGraph reading challenge.
Read at least 6 non-fantasy, fiction books. I tend to read a TON of fantasy both YA and Adult. I want to branch out a bit and read outside of my preferred genre. Switching it up often reminds me how much I just love powerful words. I want to try to read some angsty fiction and a few mysteries/thrillers.
My TBR pile is more like a mountain, particularly the books I already own. I want to try to read from my shelves as often as possible. Crafting a yearlong reading plan will hopefully help. I will post that in the coming weeks.
I am not the biggest fan of audio books as it often allows my mind to wander instead of focusing on the story being told. However, as I want to also take more walks with Remington this year, it makes sense to listen to audiobooks while doing that. I have a few in mind already and can’t wait to get walking and listening.
Finally I would like to increase my bookish consumption generally. I want to really try to immerse myself further in all thing book related, including listening to more book-related podcasts and reading more book blogs. I’ve already subscribed to one of my favorite book bloggers newsletters and it has brought me such joy.
