Welcome to a little peak into my brain! I've been writing off and on since 2014. This is my small square of the internet where you can see what I think about the books I've read, what I'm researching, and how life is going.
Who is C.M.Hockenberry?
I am an attorney, a public policy researcher and a planner who spends her time reading, writing and trying to live a good, public life. I live in Lexington, KY with my partner, L, and our two dogs, Winnie and Remington. I read a bit of everything but primarily fantasy and romcoms, because good triumphs over evil and happily ever afters are important. I have a stationary problem and that new planner I bought is definitely going to fix all of my problems.
Researching
I am currently researching the idea of public life and serving the common good of the community. Here you will catch glimpses of what my independent research journey looks like, including how I balance it with my job and my personal life. Join me as I write a bit about what I'm learning, how I'm learning and how you may be able to use it to engage with your community.
Renaissance Thinking
I have long admired and bemoaned the loss of renaissance thinkers—the individuals who developed scientific theories, designed architectural marvels, created jaw dropping artwork and influenced the affairs of their country. It's come to my attention recently that I can be that person I have long admired. A skill I've honed as a student and professional is the ability to see the golden thread connecting disparate ideas and projects. Now, I'm taking that skill and sharing how I see these connections with others in hopes of reminding people that our brains are much more powerful than we think.
Want to know what I'm currently reading?
I keep my StoryGraph account up to date so that's a great place to see what I'm currently reading and a peek at books I've read but didn't review on the site.
