Is 2020 over yet?-September TBR List

It’s been a really long time since I’ve planned my reading for a month. I have spent most of the year flying by the seat of my pants and reading what I felt like reading. This year has been a total shit show. I’m honestly amazed by how much reading I have done despite how I have felt. I think I have managed it because when I’m feeling particularly stressed out reading is my happy place. Personally, one of the most relaxing things I can do after dinner is to take a shower, complete an in depth nighttime skincare routine and climb in bed to read. Unfortunately last month, I started to get decision paralysis when I tried to pick my next read. I’ve pulled together a September TBR list of books I can grab.

As you can see, we are hot and heavy in fantasy this month. The turn to fall feels like the perfect time to get deep into fantasy. I have put off finishing Queen of Air and Darkness for years. Cassandra Clare has started two other series since. I sometimes struggle to finish out series an this one has definitely been a losing battle. I finally feel prepared to put The Dark Artifices to bed.

The books

I’ve been plowing through The Nevernight Chronicle the past few weeks. I can only read a bit of it at a time. As much as I enjoy it, I have to give myself something of a palette cleanser to ensure I can sleep. I'm going to round out the series this month by finishing out Darkdawn.

I’ve had Legendborn pre-ordered for months and I cannot wait to dive into this world. The bookstore definitely shipped it out to me a bit early. I am not complaining. It’s got everything I want: Arthurian legend, secret societies, and demon hunting. Seriously, could this book get any better?

The Belles was released in 2018, and the sequel, The Everlasting Rose was released last year. I plan to pick it up toward the end of the month because I’m trying not to buy books this month. I have a feeling that I will want to almost immediately pick up the sequel once I get this started. The series follows Camille as she navigates court politics with her magical ability to control beauty.

Red, White and Royal Blue will be a great palette cleanser. I love a good romantic comedy to perk me up after a particularly hard week. They never leave me with too many questions and the characters get a happy ending. Let's be honest, in 2020 we all need more happily ever afters.

I plan to read Oathbringer slowly over the next couple of months. As the release of Rhythm of War, book four of The Stormlight Archive approaches, I want to be fully immersed in the Cosmere.
